Jennifer Zechel

As Senior Researcher in the Centre, she provides expertise and acts in an advisory capacity on industry partner applied research projects to other researchers and technical staff. In her role, she may also be responsible for leading individual applied research projects from research planning to project completion and reporting, communicating with clients and team members and verifying that projects and tasks are on schedule and budget.

She is also a faculty member in the Biosciences and Natural Technologies programs since 2017.

Jenn brings a wealth of laboratory research experience to her role as Senior Researcher, including developing the honey bee testing program in the Animal Health lab at the University of Guelph. She was also lab manager and researcher in the department of experimental neurosurgery at Case Western, overseeing students and neurosurgery students in stroke and ischemia research, before moving to manage the Genetics lab.

She has a BSc in biology from Western University and a diploma in Respiratory Therapy from Fanshawe College. She completed her MS at Case Western Reserve University (Cleveland, OH) in biochemistry. She also obtained her PhD in genetics from Case Western, focusing on the genetics of DeadEnd1 in testicular germ cell tumours and metastases.
