Bioenterprise and Loyalist College Establish Partnership to Support Innovations in the Food & Cannabis Sectors

November 26, 2020

Loyalist College and Bioenterprise: Canada’s Food & Agri-Tech Engine have signed a Memorandum of Understanding solidifying their commitment to supporting small- to mediumsized enterprises (SMEs) across Canada. Bioenterprise and the Applied Research Centre for Natural Products and Medical Cannabis (ARC) at Loyalist College will work together to drive economic growth within the food and beverage, natural health products, cannabis, and hemp industries. Bioenterprise will help to connect innovative companies from across the country to the ARC, which offers industry expertise and services in process optimization, product development, extraction technologies, and analytical testing to ensure their client’s products are safe and efficacious. Furthermore, Bioenterprise and Loyalist College will work together to provide mentorship and advisory services to help SMEs successfully scale their business.

“Our partnership with Loyalist College will allow us to join forces and provide specialized expertise to the food, beverage, cannabis industries and related sectors,” says Dave Smardon, President and CEO of Bioenterprise. “We are seeing an increasing demand for analytical services in the natural products and cannabis sectors. This collaboration will ensure that we are providing stronger, more impactful support to members of Canada’s Food & Agri-Tech Engine.”

“The ARC is an innovation hub for natural products and medical cannabis, and a leader in analytical testing,” says Dr. Ann Marie Vaughan, Loyalist College President and CEO. “In partnering with Bioenterprise, we will be assisting the needs of our country’s agri-tech sector and helping SMEs launch new quality products to remain competitive in a global market. Our aligned values position us to make a positive change in the industry.”

This partnership occurs during a time of exciting changes at Bioenterprise, including the launch of Canada’s Food & Agri-Tech Engine: a membership program designed for SMEs looking to connect, innovate and grow. Bioenterprise is dedicated to enhancing collaboration and reducing duplicated efforts across the agri-tech ecosystem.
